Bus Accident at WDW Sends Eight to the Hospital

A bus accident involving a Walt Disney World bus and a Mears charter bus sent eight people to the hospital Tuesday just before 2:00 p.m. near Epcot. The driver of the Disney bus was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center. He required surgery, but his injuries are not life-threatening.  At least one of the guests on board the Disney bus had serious injuries. All others taken to various hospitals had minor injuries. Only the driver was on board the Mears bus, and she was not injured.

By all reports, the Disney bus rear-ended the Mears bus, which was parked (due to mechanical trouble) and had its hazard lights on. Conditions seemed to be clear, and no obvious reason for the collision has surfaced. The investigation is ongoing.
