If you haven't already scheduled your volunteer service for this program, it may just be too late. Those who have expressed interest online recently have been receiving emails from the Hands On Network, the organization responsible for overseeing this enormous effort, saying that the program has nearly reached it's limit. A recent email included this: “By Friday, March 5, all flexible schedule volunteer opportunities and the ability for volunteers to search for participating organizations and arrange service will be removed from the search at www.DisneyParks.com.”
It became clear that the program certainly would not last through the original December 10, 2010 deadline when in just six weeks it had already reached 600,000 volunteers. No word yet on whether Disney will consider extending the program beyond the one million cut-off originally set.
