My Daughter Is Excited About This One...

a *real* elephant on the Savannah

Kilimanjaro Safaris is getting a bit of an update. You may have noticed, if you've made multiple visits since Animal Kingdom opened in 1998, that the story line involving poachers and such has evolved over the years. In fact, it seems that it's being phased out almost entirely. One more step in that process will take place this spring and summer as "Little Red," the animatronic baby elephant that is saved from poachers, is replaced with a live zebra watering hole. (The zebra is my daughter's favorite animal; thus, the headline of this post.)

The transformation of the attraction--with a new story that will still reflect a strong message of conservation--should be completed by the fall. Kilimanjaro Safaris will remain open during the process.
