One More Disney Day Sweepstakes Site Issues

Has anyone else out there had any issues entering the One More Disney Day Sweepstakes? I have only managed to enter once since it began on January 1, because I get a "Communication Error" nearly every time I try. I have tried using both Internet Explorer and Chrome. (Successfully entered on Chrome once, but now it's not working for me.) Is anyone else having problems? Am I alone in this?

This makes an already somewhat lame marketing promotion seem even lamer, in this blogger's humble opinion. But maybe it's just me.

  2. I've read a lot of WDW blogs that have considered this promo somewhat lame, but I don't understand why. Can you please explain to me why it's considered lame by so many WDW experts and fans? I live too far to make WDW a frequent thing so I see promos like this as cool. If I were there, I'd have spent a lot to get there and would definitely chug coffee till it was out of style to make an effort to take advantage of 24 hours at MK. :p

Here's my basic feelings on why this promotion is rather lame: When you compare it to past promotions like "Give a Day, Get a Disney Day" or "What Will You Celebrate?" where everyone had an opportunity to get a free day...or even the "Year of a Million Dreams" where every night was an opportunity to win a stay in the castle suite (and lots of extra "dreams" were granted), this one pales in comparison. First, the opportunity is for one specific day--that already knocks out the majority of the population from attending, based on school/work/vacation schedules and even on Resort availability. Next, if so many Disney fans are trying to attend on the same day, the Park will undoubtedly be at capacity within hours, turning away many guests. (See my post earlier in the week on Park closing phases.) So, you see, this marketing campaign is rather limited in scope. Even with the addition of the vacation giveaways, you're still looking at a just a few families that will benefit. Finally, the vacation offer of "Buy 3, get 1 Free" is not a bad deal, but it pales in comparison to some offers Disney has made in the past, such as the "Buy 4, Get 3 Free" deal.

For most Disney fans, the hassle of fighting the crowds is just not worth the novelty of 24-hours at WDW.
