YES Programs Offer Individual Enrollment

You may be aware that Disney offers special opportunities for youth groups, all under the umbrella of their YES Programs (Youth Education Series). To be eligible for these programs which include discounted park tickets, your youth group must have at least 10 members and meet a few other criteria (can't just get 10 of your friends together--has to be a legitimate youth group).

Also falling under this umbrella are the Disney Homeschool Days that we attended in September.  And unlike other YES Programs, the Disney Homeschool Days do not require you to have a minimum number of guests to qualify for discounted tickets. I highly recommend this program, as it is a bargain for homeschooling families AND they take place at two of the least crowded times to visit WDW--September and January.

I recently received an email from the YES Programs team with information on individual enrollment to certain YES Programs. It seems that these particular events are open to any individuals that meet the age criteria, not exclusively homeschoolers. I've listed the specifics given in the email below. Call the YES Programs number if you would like more information or click on the links below.

  1. Do you know whether you can get the homeschool day discount ticket rates without participating in (or purchasing for $26) any of the YES presentations?

  2. You can get discounted homeschool tickets, but only during the scheduled homeschool days (usually Sept. and Jan. dates). With those homeschool tickets comes one free presentation that all participants can attend. (It is a specific presentation--not your choice.) You can add other presentations for an additional fee. We did not add any presentations, mostly due to the age of our children, and were still able to get the discounted homeschool park tickets. But, again, we went during the designated dates in September.

I would give the YES prgram a call with any specific questions (1.888.779.1757). I spoke to someone prior to our trip who was very helpful.

  3. Coral Shores High School is considering a possible band trip to Disney World next year around March 21st - March 25th. I wanted to know if you could provide me with all information possible about either being able to perform on stage at Disney or possibly a Disney Band Workshop and of course a day at the park for all the band students making it likely two days at Disney first day to perform and second day to have fun in like a three day weekend to orlando. We could handle transportation but if you would like to quote us on acomodations at one of the disney resorts or ones in town that would be helpful as well. We have a board meeting on this Monday night at 6pm if you can possibly reply to me with any information possible by Monday at 5:30pm I can present this idea to my board of directors.

  4. You'll need to contact Disney Youth Programs with your questions, as I have no experience with group trips (1-877-WD-YOUTH). I do not work for Disney and am in no way affiliated with them, nor am I a travel agent. I am a consultant who helps families plan affordable Disney vacations and shares tips freely on this site. I have found the Cast Members with Disney Youth Programs to be very helpful in answering my questions in the past.

  5. Clearly it states "This special program offers individual students and small groups the chance to participate", so it doesn't sound like it has a minimum enrollment of any specific "group" size.

  6. If I book my son's program for the last day of our trip, are the tickets good for the first day of our arrival 10 days earlier?

From the YES website:"Tickets are valid for 7 days prior to your arrival date and after departure date." When you order your package, you are asked for your arrival date, if I recall. So, you should have no problems using them 10 days earlier, providing you have entered your arrival date. However, it certainly doesn't hurt to contact someone at YES with more specific questions. I have found them to be very helpful in the past. (1-877-WDYOUTH)
