Confirmed: Enchanted Tiki Room Returns to Its Former Glory

Hooray! Soon Disney fans will be singing the Sherman Brothers' happy tune, "In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room..." with renewed glee! It seems that Disney has indeed taken advantage of the fire that temporarily closed The Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management and will " reshape the attraction into a version reminiscent of the original show," according to the Official Disney Parks Blog. With each new announcement comes new hope that our beloved Enchanted Tiki Room will no longer be "Under New Management." (See previous posts here , here, and here for background.) It seems that the re-opening date has been pushed back yet again, this time to August 16. And it looks like Iago and Zazu will indeed be noticeably absent from the latest version of the show. While I doubt that Disney will choose to restore the attraction to its original version--because, after all, Disney is always moving forward--I am hearing that it will certainly be more attuned to the "Tropical Serenade" that most of us have been hoping to see.

Tiki Room No Longer "Under New Management"?

Ever since the recent fire that damaged several animatronics (including heavy damage to Iago, the annoying bird originally voiced by Gilbert Godfrey in Aladdin) in the Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management, the 'net has been abuzz with murmurs that perhaps now Disney would give the public what it wants--the attraction restored to its previous Iago-free glory. Fueling these rumors is the fact that Disney has changed the re-opening date of the attraction several times. The current date from Disney is July 1.

So...can it be? Is it really true. I've read corroborating reports that indeed we will see a "new and improved"--or, rather, an "old-and-back-to-how-we-like-it" Enchanted Tiki Room when it re-opens. Still, this bit of information falls squarely in the "rumor" category, though it appears to be at least possible with the new opening date.
