Pre-Order "The Avengers" Now

Marvel's The Avengers will be releasing on September 25, but you can pre-order it from Amazon now. (Here's something really cool about pre-ordering from Amazon: if the price goes down between when you order and the release date, you'll receive the lowest price!) There are several versions of this DVD/Blu-ray available, so make sure you get the one that suits your needs. We tend to go for the combo packs, since they have both Blu-ray and DVD--we use one at home and the other in the car. And even the 3D Blu-ray combo packs usually come with a "regular" Blu-ray. Just be sure to check the fine print to make sure you're getting what you want. Here are links to the the three main versions from most expensive 3D combo pack to your basic DVD (all at pretty good price points too!):

I haven't seen the movie yet, but my husband took our oldest daughter and they both thoroughly enjoyed it.

Hurry! Beauty and the Beast Returning to the Disney Vault

You have less than two weeks to own Beauty and the Beast before it returns to the Disney vault on April 30! If you weren't able to purchase it with coupons and/or rebates when it most recently re-released, you can still get it for a decent price on Amazon.com. Here are links to the DVD, Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, and 3D Blu-ray/DVD combo pack:

Take Home 'The Muppets' on March 20

The Muppets will be released for home viewing --DVD, Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack, Digital Download, and On-Demand--on March 20, 2012. Now I know what my girls will be getting in their Easter baskets! I'll be on the lookout for coupons and deals to share with you as the release date grows closer.

3-D "Lion King" Coming to Theatres and Blu-Ray

Get ready to experience The Lion King like you've never seen it before! Coming September 16 to a theatre near you, for a limited 2-week run, you can see the epic story only in 3-D. (We'll be heading to Walt Disney World right about then...should be interesting to see if they do anything to promote this release in the Parks.) Then, on October 4, you can own the Diamond Edition of the award-winning film on high-definition Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3-D.

The Lion King has been in the vault since 2004, so there's a whole new group of kiddos who haven't had the chance to see this movie. We own it on videotape--not even DVD--so my girls have only seen in once or twice (unlike the dozens of times they've seen most other Disney animated classics).

The Lion King is the best-selling home entertainment release of all time, and the Broadway show it inspired is still entertaining audiences worldwide (listed as the 7th longest running Broadway show).

The Incredibles Comes to Blu-Ray

The Incredibles released today on Blu-ray, and I'm hearing that it's pretty spectacular. If you purchased it on DVD, you can enter the UPC code and get a coupon for $10 off the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack from Disney Movie Rewards. In addition, there's a similar coupon for Cars (same deal, enter the UPC from your DVD) for $8 off.

It gets better: when you buy these two combo packs together at Best Buy, you'll get an additional $10 off! So, here's how it all works out:

Cars Combo Pack: $24.98 + Incredibles Combo Pack: $24.98 = $49.96

$49.96 - $10 (for buying them together) - $10 (Incredibles coupon) - $8 (Cars coupon) = $21.96, or $10.98 each

Not good enough for you? Here's a bonus: each Blu-ray combo pack includes a free ticket to see Cars 2! So, if you figure a cost of around $8 each for the tickets (that would be a matinee, or child's admission), you're getting a fabulous deal! And you know you're going to see Cars 2 in the theatre, right? Hoping to make it to Best Buy today and snag mine.

Did You Get Yours?

I popped into Target first thing this morning to get my copy of Tangled. (Shhh! It's going in the girls' Easter basket.) I had planned to purchase the DVD/Blu-ray combo pack, but was a bit puzzled by the various formats available. (Wish I had taken my camera along to show you what I saw.) I do remember there was a DVD/Blu-ray edition for $19.99, but it did not have the digital copy as the combo packs normally do. There was also just a DVD (can't remember the exact price on that one, but I knew I wanted the Blu-ray copy too). Finally, I saw the one I purchased:

It's has a normal Blu-ray, a 3D Blu-ray, a DVD, and a digital copy! It cost $24.99, but with my two $5 off coupons (one from Disney Movie Rewards and one Target store coupon), I got it for $14.99. After my Success Rice rebate, it will be down to $9.99 plus the cost of the rice (got a coupon for that too--it was in this past Sunday's paper).

No, we don't have a 3D TV (but maybe we will someday!). And sure, I could have purchased just the DVD/Blu-ray for $5 less--but my Target store coupon was for any DVD/Blu-ray priced $24.99 or over, so it would have ended up costing as much as the 3D combo pack. So, I'm thinking I got a pretty great deal.

How about you? Did you get yours? Did you find a better deal?

Best Tangled Deal?

It looks like Target is the front-runner for the best deal on the Tangled Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack (available Tuesday). Their sale price will be $24.99. In addition to the coupon available at Disney Movie Rewards, there was a Target store coupon in a recent Easter-themed mailer for $5 off any Disney Blu-ray priced at $24.99 or higher--perfect! Pair that with the Success Rice rebate, and you could get your copy for as low as $9.99 plus the cost of the rice. (If you have a Cost Cutters Family Hair Salon near you (we don't), you could get this additional $5 rebate with a haircut purchase, for the low, low cost of just $4.99!

Wanna make it an even better deal? If you pick up a few other items you already need (and, of course, use coupons on these items at well!), there was a Target coupon on the front cover of the same Easter ad for a free $5 gift card with any purchase of $50 or more.
